Hilary Smith is Associate Professor of History at the University of Denver, where she teaches Chinese history and the history of science and medicine. Her first book, -Forgotten Disease: Illnesses Transformed in Chinese Medicine- (Stanford, 2017), explored how Chinese understandings of disease changed between the fourth century AD and the present. She is currently at work on a revisionist, East Asia-centered history of modern nutritional knowledge.
